SASKATOON – A Saskatoon Police Service (SPS) officer from the Bike Unit was assaulted on Aug. 23.

SPS say that the Bike Unit officer was responding to a call for service at about 12:55 p.m. in the 100 block of Avenue D North when he was approached by a verbally and physically irate person in the area of Avenue D and 22nd Street West.

As the person continued towards the officer in an aggressive manner, a struggle began causing the police bike to fall to the ground and the officer to suffer a minor injury. This person was not involved in the initial call for service that the officer was responding to.
