SASKATOON – Police have arrested 30-year-old Kyle Wayne McCormick and charged him with multiple arsons in the city.
He appeared in Saskatoon court Monday and Wednesday and he was remanded in custody both days. The Crown is opposed to his release and a bail hearing has been set for Nov. 1.
On Oct. 21, at around 11:40 a.m., Saskatoon Police Service (SPS) responded to the 100 block of 23rd Street East for a report of a fire in the alley. Shortly after, another fire was reported to be burning in the alley of the 100 block of 1st Avenue Â鶹´«Ã½AV. Police reviewed video evidence from these incidents, which led to the identification and arrest of McCormick. The continued investigation by members of the SPS General Investigations Section found that he was also responsible for another fire in the alley of the 900 block of 22nd Street West on Sept. 19.
McCormick has been charged with three counts of arson. Court records show that he is also charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and possession of a prohibited weapon or ammunition in a separate incident.
