REGINA – Two youth face numerous charges after a group of people outside a Regina business were sprayed with bear mace.
On Oct. 25, at approximately 5:10 p.m., Regina police were dispatched to a business in the 400 block of Albert Street N for a report of a weapons offence. The complainant said that multiple suspects wearing masks had sprayed a group of people with bear mace. The suspects then fled on foot.
When police arrived, they learned two of the suspects had boarded a transit bus. Police located the bus at 7Th Avenue N and Smith Street N and arrested two male youths without incident. Bear mace was located on the bus and one of the males was also found to be carrying a bladed weapon.
Through the investigation, police learned the suspects approached a group of people inside the business and demanded their property. One of the suspects then sprayed the group with bear mace.
A 14-year-old male youth has been charged with four counts of robbery, disguise with intent, and possession of a weapon. A 15-year-old male youth was charged with four counts of robbery, disguise with intent, possession of a weapon, and carrying a concealed weapon.
Both youth, who can’t be identified in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act, made their first court appearance on these charges in Provincial Youth Court Oct. 26.
