REGINA – What began as a typical traffic stop concluded with police arresting their suspect after a failed parkour attempt.
Just before 8:30 p.m. on Nov. 22, RPS members attempted a traffic stop in the area of Eighth Avenue and Elphinstone Street, but the driver decided to flee police.
"A short time later, the vehicle collided with another vehicle," RPS said in a media release. "The lone occupant of the suspect vehicle then fled on foot."
With the help of a canine track, the suspect was located on the roof of a house located on the 1400 block of Montague Street.
"As a police officer climbed to the roof, the 27 year-old male suspect attempted to jump to a neighbouring rooftop, and fell," RPS said.
The man was apprehended and taken to hospital. Fortunately, the man did not sustain serious injury from the fall, and was taken into police custody. RPS also discovered a bag of what they believed to be methamphetamine on the suspect.
The man was charged with evading police, hit and run, drug possession, and was arrested on several existing warrants that included charges of vehicle theft, dangerous driving, possession of stolen property. He was scheduled to appear in Provincial Court on Nov. 23.
