PRINCE ALBERT – A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Dec. 10 for Walker Smith on a charge of second-degree murder in the death of 41-year-old Kevin Stewart. The hearing will determine if there's enough evidence for Smith to stand trial.
Waskesiu/Montreal Lake RCMP had responded to a call to assist EMS at a home on Montreal Lake Cree Nation on Nov. 12, 2023. When they arrived, they found Stewart injured. He was pronounced deceased at the home by EMS.
Smith, 29, was arrested at the scene without incident.
