More adjournments for Taya Sinclair's accused killer

SASKATOON - Stephanie Janet Halkett-Stevenson, who is  accused in the first-degree murder of Taya Sinclair, had her case adjourned to June 28 to be spoken to. Halkett-Stevenson is accused of killing Sinclair in March 2022 in Prince Albert and is currently in custody.

She was arrested on Jan. 3 while in custody in Prince Albert for unrelated charges. According to court documents obtained by SASKTODAY.ca, she allegedly held a man captive in Saskatoon on either March 12 or March 13, 2022. She threatened to wound, maim, disfigure or kill him, and also assaulted him. For that incident, Halkett-Stevenson is facing charges of aggravated assault, unlawful confinement, and uttering threats.

A second accused, Chelsey Wilma Crowe, was back in court June 7. She was arrested in March while in custody on other, unrelated matters, and charged with manslaughter, unlawful confinement, and assault causing bodily harm in relation to Sinclair’s death.
