Missing kayaker found deceased on Buffalo Pound Lake

Kayaker was 25-year-old Moose Jaw man.

BUFFALO POUND LAKE - Police have recovered the body of a man from Buffalo Pound Lake who was reported missing.

Moose Jaw RCMP received the missing person report on July 2 just before 4 p.m., that he had gone missing from the Sand Point Beach are.

"Investigation determined the adult male was kayaking when it overturned," said RCMP in a media release." He did not re-emerge from the water."

In addition to the Moose Jaw RCMP, the Regina Fire and Rescue Dive Team, Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency and SARSAV searched for the man,

"He was located deceased in the water, near where he was last seen, at approximately 3:45 p.m. on July 3," RCMP said. "He has been identified as a 25-year-old male from Moose Jaw. His family has been notified and victim services have been offered to them."

The Saskatchewan Coroners Service is assisting the RCMP in this investigation.
