Man out on bail for manslaughter wanted for breaching conditions

Jared Gale was granted bail after he was charged with manslaughter. He is now wanted for breaching his release conditions.

LA RONGE – Police are searching for a man charged with manslaughter who had been released on bail.

Jared Gale, 28, of Lac La Ronge Indian band and Prince Albert, was granted bail in Prince Albert Provincial Court on Nov. 30, 2023, and is now wanted for breaching his release conditions.

La Ronge RCMP Crime Reduction Team (CRT) is asking the public to report sightings of Gale. He may be in, or travelling to, either Prince Albert or La Ronge areas but his whereabouts are unknown, say police.

Gale, along with 24-year-old Garrett McDonnell, and 35-year-old John McDonnell, are charged in connection to the Nov. 8, 2023, death of 42-year-old Randy Halkett of Lac La Ronge Indian Band.

La Ronge RCMP had received a call about an injured person at a home on Lac La Ronge Indian Band around 8:20 a.m. They found Halkett injured and he was taken to hospital where he was later declared deceased.

Gale’s co-accused in Halkett’s death, John McDonnel, had also been released on bail in December 2023, according to court documents. He was arrested again in February and charged with eight firearms-related offences, possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, two counts of failing to comply with a release order, and possession of property obtained by crime.

If you see Gale, don’t approach him. He is about 5-foot-11 and 269 pounds. He has brown eyes and black-brown hair.
