NORTH BATTLEFORD – A man – who was in a vehicle that was associated with another vehicle whose occupants were involved in several drive-by shootings – was sentenced to 450 days in jail and banned from owning firearms for life.

Adrian Dreaver, 20, of North Battleford, pleaded guilty to being in a vehicle he knew there was a firearm and possession of a firearm while prohibited.

Crown prosecutor Oryn Holm and defence Vanessa Roberts entered a joint submission to the court on July 19, which Judge Kevin Hill accepted.

Dreaver was arrested in December 2022 by the North Battleford RCMP Gang Task Force. The gang unit was investigating four separate incidents where shots were fired between Dec. 10 to 13, 2022, in the city and said they believed they were gang-related.

On Dec. 10, 2022, a bullet shattered the window of a house on 8th Avenue at about 3:38 a.m. About half an hour later, the tailgate of a vehicle was struck with a bullet.

The next day, at about 2 a.m. a male was shot in the leg. He was taken to hospital by EMS.  Three unknown individuals dressed in black were seen leaving the home.

Then, at about 11:15 p.m. on Dec. 12, 2022, a male was shot as he walked at the intersection of 110th Street and 11th Avenue North in North Battleford. He went to a nearby home for help. EMS treated him for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

On Dec. 13, 2022, at about 3 a.m., a woman was shot in the head as she drove her vehicle. A dark vehicle had pulled up beside her near a gas station on 105th Street and shot at her. The bullet shattered both the front and back driver’s side windows. She drove home and a family member took her to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Remaining charges against Dreaver were stayed by the Crown, including seven weapons-related charges and possession of methamphetamine.
