REGINA – Police arrested a 32-year-old man in relation to recent auto thefts in the city. On Dec. 19, members were called to the 300 block of Trifunov Crescent for a vehicle theft in progress.
“When police arrived at that location, they spoke with the victim who said his Honda Civic had been stolen by a suspect who’d just abandoned a Honda CRV,” said RPS in a media release. “Officers briefly spotted the stolen vehicle in the area being followed by a white GMC truck.”
The stolen Civic was later found on Lorimer Crescent, then police spotted the same truck that had been following the thieved car. They stopped and arrested the driver without incident.
“Further investigation led to confirmation that both Honda vehicles were stolen with evidence to link the thefts to the suspect in custody,” RPS said.
Dustin Lyle Morin of Regina is facing seven charges, including two counts each of motor vehicle theft; possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000; failure to comply with conditions of a release order; and a single count of possessing an automobile master key.
He was released on an undertaking and will appear on these charges in court on Feb. 1, 2023.
