SASKATOON – A 14-year-old girl was threatened with a weapon, unlawfully confined and sexually assaulted in a bathroom at the Royal University Hospital (RUH) in Saskatoon on Oct. 11, say Saskatoon police.
A man, 43-year-old Clifford James Alphonse from Black Lake, has been charged with sexual assault with a weapon, sexual interference, and unlawful confinement. He appeared in Saskatoon Provincial Court on Thursday.
Saskatoon police say that at about 12:10 p.m. on Oct. 11, they got a call that the sexual assault occurred at RUH in the 100 block of Hospital Drive in Saskatoon. The victim, a 14-year-old girl, reported to hospital security that an unknown man had threatened her with a weapon before taking her to a washroom where he unlawfully confined and sexually assaulted her.
Before police arrived, the U of S Protective Services had located and detained the suspect. No weapons were found on him, say police.
Police didn't specify what area the bathroom was located in, or if it was in the area of the Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital at RUH, which is at 103 Hospital Drive.
