PRINCE ALBERT – Drug trafficking and weapons charges were dropped against two men in Prince Albert court on Sept. 19. The Crown entered a stay of proceedings against 30-year-old Modi Lako of Prince Albert and 29-year-old Yasin Ali of Edmonton.
Lako and Ali were charged with possession of the proceeds of crime, two counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, careless use of a firearm, possession of a dangerous weapon, and unauthorized possession of a firearm.
A third accused, 24-year-old Shyrell Nyack, has been wanted on a bench warrant for failing to appear in court earlier this year. He had been released on bail.
The three men were arrested September 2022 following an investigation by Prince Albert Police Service’s Crime Reduction Team. In the investigation, they seized seized cocaine, methamphetamine, a loaded handgun, ammunition, and more than $6,000 in cash.
