Construction site fire deemed deliberate: Arson investigation underway

The fire started at a framed wall on the main floor.

SASKATOON – A deliberately set fire has caused about $5,000 in damage to a building under construction in the 100 block of Tufts Way, says Saskatoon Fire Department (SFD).

The call about the partially constructed duplex being on fire came into the SFD at about 3:36 a.m. on Sept. 27. SFD dispatched three fire engines, a ladder truck, a rescue truck, and the battalion chief.

When firefighters arrived, they reported seeing flames and smoke. The fire was brought under control at 3:50 a.m. and the fire investigator was asked to attend. The fire started at a framed wall on the main floor.

There were no injuries.

Saskatoon Police Service is now investigating. Anyone with information about this fire is asked to call 306-975-8300.
