Ahtahkakoop RCMP continue working to locate and arrest Dominic Ahenakew, who is considered armed and dangerous. If you see him, do not approach him. Original story: Ahtahkakoop RCMP are seeking information on 31-year-old Dominic Ahenakew who is wanted for attempted murder.
Police say that Ahenakew was involved in the report of the discharge of a firearm while outside of a home on Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation Aug. 8 that resulted in a serious injury of a man. The victim was taken to hospital by STARS air ambulance where he remains in serious, but stable condition. Ahenakew and the victim are known to each other, according to RCMP.
Ahenakew is 6 feet and weighs approximately 200 pounds. He has brown eyes and brown hair. He is believed to be driving a white Chevrolet pick-up truck.
Ahtahkakoop RCMP is investigating along with officers from the Prince Albert RCMP Forensic Identification Services. Officers are conducting proactive patrols in the community and following-up on all information provided to them to help locate Ahenakew and determine the circumstances of the incident.
A warrant for arrest has been issued for Dominic Ahenakew on charges of attempted murder, pointing a firearm, and careless use of a firearm.
The preliminary investigation by officers indicate this was an isolated incident but Dominic Ahenakew is considered to be armed and dangerous. If he is seen, do not approach, and report this sighting to police by calling 9-1-1 immediately.
