Another person in northern Manitoba has died from COVID-19 – a woman in her 40s in theÌýBunibonibee/OxfordÌýHouse/Manto Sipi/Gods River/Gods LakeÌýdistrict.

The woman is the third person to have died from COVID-19 in the region, after another woman in her 40s in the Island Lake health district whose death was announced Nov. 6 and a female in her 60s from Opaskwayak Cree Nation whose death was announced Nov. 11.

Four other Manitobans have died from COVID-19, according to the province - a female in her 60s from the Interlake-Eastern Regional Health Authority, a man in his 60s in Winnipeg and a man and woman in their 80s in Winnipeg.

The province announced another 434 net cases of COVID-19 Friday, most of which are in southern communities. Of the 434 cases, 28 new cases were reported within the Northern Health Region (NHR).

Within the NHR, The Pas/OCN/Kelsey district has had the most cases and still has the most active cases - 212 people in the district have tested positive and 147 people still have the disease. Sixty-six people are sick in the Cross Lake-Pimicikamak district, while cases continue to spike in theÌýGrand Rapids/Misipawistik/Moose Lake/Mosakahiken/Easterville/Chemawawin district - 29 people there have active cases of COVID-19.

Twenty-three people currently have COVID-19 within the Island Lake district, while numbers are lowering slowly in Thompson/Mystery Lake, with 14 active cases. Nine active cases in the north are still listed as "unknown district."

The Flin Flon/Snow Lake/Cranberry Portage/Sherridon district is now down to one active case - one person who was previously listed as an active case has now recovered from the disease.Ìý

Another new possible public exposure to COVID-19 has been announced in northern Manitoba - at the Westwood Elementary School in Thompson Oct. 29. Parents and guardians were advised of the possible exposure Nov. 10.Ìý

"Westwood School is working closely with public health officials and following their recommendations. Based on the public health investigation, this exposure was assessed to be low risk overall due to the thorough and consistent application of COVID-19 prevention measures. No high risk (close) contacts have been identified," reads a letter to parents from the NHR.

"The school will remain open to all students and staff, who can continue to attend school in person."

Three outbreaks are still active within the north - at the Keeyask Generating Station project site near Gillam, the Oscar's Place homeless shelter in The Pas and the entirety of Cross Lake First Nation.
