There are now more active cases of COVID-19 in Manitoba than there are people in Denare Beach.
The province announced 66 new cases Thursday, with a vast majority of the cases - 57 - reported in Winnipeg. No new cases of COVID-19 have been reported in northern Manitoba.
Manitoba now has 863 active cases of COVID-19 - higher than Denare Beach's 2016 federal census population of 779 - with 25 people hospitalized and six of those people in intensive care. The province conducted 2,736 tests Oct. 7, breaking the 200,000 total tests conducted barrier.
Over the past five days, three per cent of all COVID-19 cases have turned up positive.
Two new possible exposures were reported in Winnipeg at Seven Oaks Middle School, Earl Grey School, while possible exposures were found at Steinbach's Edge Lounge and Night Club and the Riding Mountain Village Canada Post Outlet in Riding Mountain.
Twelve cases of COVID-19 remain active in northern Manitoba -Â eight in the Shamattawa/York Factory/Tataskweyak/Split Lake district, two in the Bunibonibee/Oxford House/Manto Sipi/God's River/God's Lake district and one each in Thompson/Mystery Lake, Island Lake and in an "unknown district".
