Yorkton's costume swap shop a growing idea

The organization continues to seek donations to replenish their Halloween costume stock.

YORKTON – The BGC Halloween Costume Swap & Shop started in 2017 and has grown each year since.

The BGC looks for a donated retail space in the community to house it for the season. This year with the help of Remax (Robby Bear and Katherine McDowell) they were able to acquire a space donated from a local landlord.

The BGC collects donations of costumes, accessories and decorations all year. They ask that the items be in clean, good condition. Anyone in the community can visit the shop. They can swap out for a new costume if they bring one or simply take a costume if they need.

All ages are welcome and the group will be collecting costumes for the first two weeks of November for those who want to donate and don’t want to store their items.

Donations can be dropped off at the Club Office at 54 C Smith Street West.

The BGC's stock has been greatly depleted and they are in need of costumes for ages 10 through adult-sized to carry on for next year.

Hours are 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday through Friday and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.Oct. 30.
