Yorkton won Sunday afternoon.

YORKTON - The Yorkton Kinsmen Maulers hosted the Warman Wildcats for a pair of games on the weekend.

The game Saturday was never close.

The Wildcats scored two unanswered goals in the first period. Ty Dauvin and Trey Markus were the goal scorers.

In the second frame Warman piled it on adding four more unanswered goals. Kaleb Dewar, Jack Lavallee, Tyson Janzen and Koston Baliski were the marksmen.

Cruz Harrison made it 7-0 in the third before Kale Johns finally replied for Yorkton late in the frame to complete the scoring in a 7-1 win for the visitors.

Reid Schweitzer faced 42-shots in the Terrier nets in the loss.

A day later the teams met again – this time in a game the Maulers were also raising funds for Brayden Ottenbreit’s Close Cuts for Cancer and for STARS ambulance.

This encounter was a closer contest.

Boston Melnyk put the Maulers up early in the first, but that lead evaporated as Dylan Danyluk tied things just nine-seconds after the Mauler goal, then added one late to give the Wildcats a 2-1 lead through 20-minutes of play.

In the second Ryder Woods netted one early, and the game was tied 2-2.

Danyluk then completed a natural hat trick to edge the Wildcats back in front 3-2.

Kieran Sobry replied for the Maulers to tie things 3-3.

Then with four seconds remaining in the second period Tanner Wiens scored and Yorkton headed the dressing room through 40-minutes of play up 4-3.

In the third the teams traded powerplay goals; Aidan Tory for Yorkton and Jack Lavallee for Warman as the home side won the game 5-4.

Casson Silbernagel was in net for the Maulers facing 46-shots in the win.

The Mauler record on the season is now 7-25-1 for 15 points for 11th spot in the SMU18AAAHL.
