YORKTON – The Yorkton Chamber of Commerce announced Dec.6 their successful re-accreditation by examination.

The YCC passed the examination by the Chamber Accreditation Council of Canada and the chamber has been re-accredited for a period of three years — Jan. 1, 2024 to Dec. 31, 2026.

“Your Chamber has been successfully evaluated against a rigorous set of national standards, and has demonstrated excellence in leadership, governance and operations,” stated the letter of congratulations from the Chamber Accreditation Council of Canada.

The Yorkton Chamber was first accredited in 2018 and re-accredited in 2021. Currently, 71 Chambers of Commerce and Boards of Trade across Canada have achieved this significant milestone.

Executive Director for the YCC, Juanita Polegi, indicated that when applying for accreditation and re-accreditation the Chamber must provide supporting documents under three Pillars: Organization/Governance; Policy & Advocacy; and Membership Programs/Services.

“Once these documents are assembled, they are a great resource for future Directors and especially future staff members as everything needed to run the Chamber is close at hand in one very large binder and electronic file,” said Polegi in a release from the YCC.

“Re-accreditation signifies to our membership that the work this Chamber undertakes on their behalf has been validated by the national Council,” said Vanessa Andres, President of the Yorkton Chamber, adding, “the Yorkton Chamber is part of a group of elite chambers of commerce in Canada that can verify to the business community locally and nationally that our organization is run in a strategic and professional way and has reached the standard in Chamber excellence."

The Yorkton Chamber of Commerce is “the voice of the Yorkton and district business community” and was incorporated in 1898. It represents over 430 businesses.
