YORKTON – The Yorkton Chamber of Commerce announced April 2 the finalists for the Celebrate Success Business Awards.

The Award presentations will occur at the Celebrate Success Business Awards Dinner Wednesday April 17 at St. Mary’s Ukrainian Cultural Centre.  The Finalists for each category will be introduced and then the Award Recipient for that category will be announced.

The selection of the Finalists and Award recipients was charged to a panel of six judges who reviewed all the applications that were submitted.  Juanita Polegi, Executive Director of the Chamber indicated the judging proved to be a difficult task.  “With so many successful and deserving businesses, the judges were challenged in making their selections,” she said.

Polegi applauded those individuals, businesses and organizations which submitted applications.  “No one knows a business better than its owner or senior manager so it only makes sense that those individuals took the time to complete an application.”

The event’s organizing committee decided to give the Awards a fresh look so they introduced some new categories.  The new categories encouraged a number of businesses to apply for an award.

Polegi said that applying for an award is an effective, positive and inexpensive form of marketing.  “If your business is selected as a Finalist, 350 people learn about your business at the Awards Dinner.  And if it is selected as an Award recipient, even greater positive attention is paid to the business.”

The Award categories for which there are applications include Ag Production; Award of Excellence; Community Merit; Health & Wellness; Personal & Aesthetics; Property Restoration; Relax, Eat Drink (hospitality); Retail & Consumer; Trades & Skilled Labour; Woman Entrepreneur; and Young Entrepreneur. Other awards to be presented that evening include the Peoples’ Choice Award; Distinguished Entrepreneur; Small Business of the Year; and Large Business of the Year.
