YORKTON – Members of the Yorkton Terriers Hockey Club gathered at the newly renovated Terrier dressing room for a presentation from the Celebrity Sports Dinner Committee.
The club was presented with a cheque for $60,000, funds raised as a result of the Celebrity Sports Dinner held April 20.
"We're so grateful to the community for their support," told Pat Koskie, of the Celebrity Sports Dinner Committee, to reporters during a media scrum.
"You can tell the community wants this team to succeed and we're confident we'll have a good year this year," said Koskie.
To get the ball rolling for the event were the Kinsmen Club of Yorkton, donating an initial $10,000.
"It didn't take much for us to say yes," said Elmer Hollinger, President of the Yorkton Kinsmen Club, adding, "the Terrier organization is a staple in the community ... if we can keep this club running in Yorkton there will be a lot of good things happening here."
