YORKTON — Suncrest College is pleased to announce an option for students that will allow them to earn a University of Regina certificate in just one year.
Starting in Fall 2024, Suncrest College will offer courses that students can take to complete the University of Regina’s Liberal Arts Certificate. These courses can also count towards several other programs at the University. The Liberal Arts Certificate program will meet the needs of students who wish to pursue liberal arts study who may not initially want to pursue a full degree program. Students will have the opportunity to ladder from the certificate to the diploma and/or a full degree.
“Having a one-year university option is great for anyone thinking about university but is either not sure what degree to choose or is not ready to make a four-year commitment for a full bachelor's degree. It gives potential students a lot of flexibility to have an early endpoint or the option to keep working towards a 2-year diploma or to a full degree,” said Malena Vroom, Suncrest Chair, Post Secondary Education.
A Liberal Arts certificate is a credential that introduces the student to a range of subjects that apply to many aspects of life rather than specific to a particular profession or trade. It can be a great way to earn a credential in a short amount of time or used as a stepping-stone to a diploma or degree.
The flexibility of this program will appeal to students who juggle work, family and academic responsibilities and need to stop in and out of their university studies.
Remote delivery options are available, with Yorkton as the main location for program delivery. Suncrest College currently offers multiple full-degree options for students, along with one#year offerings for those transitioning from high school to post-secondary academia.
