Silver Starlets woo crowd at exhibition

Duo has performed internationally for eight years.

YORKTON – Among the many sights, sounds and goings on at the Yorkton exhibition were the acrobatics of the Silver Starlets.

"The Silver Starlets is an all-female aerial acrobatic show.  Full of glam, glitz and glitter, the Starlets use a 20 foot free-standing trapeze rig as their stage," read a description of the performers on the duo's website.

"The show is eight years old — we started in 2015," said performer Molly Keczan in an interview with Yorkton This Week, adding, "we travel around the world."

According to their website, the Silver Starlets have performed in the United Arab Emirates, New Zealand, Ireland and the USA. The duo, consisting of Keczan and Libby Sparks, said they left their home base of Toronto the weekend of May 24 for a five-month-long tour.

"We had five weeks in California to do shows and now we're back up in Canada for two or three weeks," said Keczan.

Coming from California to Yorkton might be a bit of a shock for some, but the starlets said it wasn't an issue.

"When we were in California — we were in the San Fransico area — it was actually really cold," said Keczan.

"All Canadians think that Californians live in bikinis and then I had to tell them (Californians) that all Canadians do not live in igloos," said Keczan with a laugh.

The Silver Starlets held 12 performances over their four day stay at the Yortkon Exhibition, wowing the crowds with their glitz and glitter.

Keczan said this is not their first time performing in Sask, having entertained at the Saskatoon Exhibition as well as at the Children’s Fest of Saskatchewan.

After the Yorkton Ex the duo have two more Canadian dates set for Moncton and Medicine Hat before returning to the USA to perform in Vermont, California, Idaho, Ontario and Arizona.

"We're going to fly — not driving," said Sparks with a laugh.
