YORKTON – Royal Auto Group will hold a barbecue and fundraiser for SaskAbilities to coincide with Earth Day on April 22.
"We will be having a barbecue fundraiser for SaskAbilities," said Jane Jalmanzar, Marketing Strategist with Royal Auto Group in an interview with Yorkton This Week, "for those who want to test drive one of our electric vehicles – they can test drive."
"All proceeds from the barbecue will go towards SaskAbilities to support their community programs – that's our way of celebrating Earth Day,"said Jalmanzar.
Jalmanzar said that current owners of Ford electric vehicles have been invited to share their experiences with owning the vehicles.
Plans are to hold the event outside, but in the event of inclement weather the showroom will be made available to attendees.
Ford announced April 11 their plans to invest $1.8 billion into its Oakville, Ont. Assembly Complex to transform it into a high-volume hub of electric vehicle manufacturing in Canada, according to a media release from the automobile manufacturer.
"The campus—to be renamed Oakville Electric Vehicle Complex—will begin to retool and modernize in the second quarter of 2024 to prepare for production of next-generation EVs. This marks the first time a full-line automaker has announced plans to produce passenger EVs in Canada for the North American market," continued the release.
