Legacy Co-op announces Fuel Good Day donation totals

$10,158 in donations to local community groups.

YORKTON — Legacy Co-op announced over $10,158 in donations to local community groups from their Fuel Good Day 2022.

When community members filled up their tank on September 20 at Yorkton Palliser Way, Yorkton West Broadway, Kamsack, Churchbridge or Theodore locations Legacy Co-op donated 10 cents from every litre of fuel sold to the successful recipients.

“We are proud to give back from our fuel sales to support local community organizations that are working to address the needs in our communities. Fuel Good Day was fun for the whole family with great food, contests, giveaways and special appearances by our recipients,” said Richard Burym, Petroleum Division Manager at Legacy Co-op.

This year the funds raised went towards community organizations in the Parkland area which included Paws and Claws Animal Rescue Inc., Society for the Involvement of Good Neighbours (SIGN) Kamsack, Springside Fire Department and Churchbridge Minor Sports.

In coordination with Fuel Good Day each community recipient held a BBQ at Legacy Co-op participating locations.

“We would like to thank Legacy Co-op and their team members for such a great day. At both Palliser Way and West Broadway Gas Bars our fosters and their animals greeted customers while they were fueling up. All our furry friends give thanks to everyone who came out for the bbq
and fueled good. The proceeds of Fuel Good Day and the BBQs will go towards veterinarian bills for stray, abused and abandoned animals within the Parkland Region,” said Karen Renton with Paws and Claws Animal Rescue Inc.

At Theodore, the Springside Fire Department provided tours of their fire truck and educated families on fire safety while attending to the grills. In Churchbridge students and parents from Churchbridge Minor Sports fired up the grills and organized a bottle drive.

“We are grateful to Legacy Coop for choosing us for their Fuel Good Day. The funds raised will go towards purchasing new supplies for our programming at the Kamsack Family Resource Centre. We also thank the community for their support in coming out and know that your donations are greatly appreciated, you’ve made a difference for families in Kamsack,” said Megan Holodniuk with SIGN Kamsack.
