YORKTON – Joe Beeverz played host to their own version of Iron Chef the evening of March 4.
The local restaurant had nine recipes compete against each other with local SJHL, Yorkton Minor Hockey and Senior Hockey referees judging the creations.
And though it was the chefs at Joe Beeverz who were doing the cooking, it was the entire staff who contributed.
"Everyone in the restaurant — from a waitress to a waiter to a server to a manager — has come up with a menu item," told Chris Hoffman, Manager at Joe Beeverz, in an interview with Yorkton This Week.
Recipes ranged from chicken lollipops, fish burritos, avocado chicken wraps, a vegetarian tornado poutine and a sweet Thai chicken sandwich, among others.
Hoffman said the idea was "to have a little fun with the staff and try something new," noting he was excited to see which recipes would make it to the finals.
Final judgments for the food items will be made at the Joe Beeverz location in Brandon in the coming weeks with five recipes from the Yorkton location making it to the finals.
