Deer Park Men's Club win inaugural Highway 10 Ryder Cup match

The Deer Park Men’s Club was successful in all four matches.

YORKTON – On Saturday, September 10th, the Melville Golf Club hosted the first annual Highway 10 Ryder Cup Match between the Melville Golf Club and the Deer Park Men’s Club.

Each team consisted of 10 players with the format of the event consisting of four, nine-hole matches.

The first match was a two-person best ball, second match was a two-person scramble, third match was a two-person alternate shot, and the fourth match was the singles match.

The Deer Park Men’s Club was successful in all four matches taking the first match 4-1, the second match was halved 2.5-2.5, the third match DPMC won 3 - 2 and then won the singles matches 7-3 to take the overall Highway 10 Ryder Cup 16.5 points to 8.5 points.

Derek Stykalo and Chris Burton captained the Deer Park Men’s Club and were instrumental in putting the team together to bring the cup home.

Members of the Deer Park Men's Club Highway 10 Ryder Cup Champions were Derek Stykalo, Chris Burton, Henry Hemmes, Jamie Holodniuk, Dylan Johnson, Stephen Oleskiw, Dustin Nielsen, Karsten Wagner, Shelby McLelland and Cliff Trombley.

The Melville Golf Club were led by Casey O'Brien and Doug Kreklewich, who had a great group of guys and were awesome ambassadors and hosts.

The MGC arranged for member carts for participants free of charge and also provided DPMC with two meals and a great day of golf.

A repeat of the event is expected next year with the Deer Park Men’s Club to host.
