Cumberland College and Parkland College officially merge and rebrand as Suncrest College on July 1. After much anticipation, a new beginning for the two educational institutions starts now. Over the next year, Suncrest College will provide training to a larger student base across its 11 campuses within the expanded region. The combined staff base will consist of around 280 experienced and specialized professionals.
“We have been waiting for and working towards this for several months,” President & CEO of Suncrest College Alison Dubreuil shared. “We are proud to now be known as Suncrest College. A merger makes us stronger and positions us to be more robust in offering more programming to recruit and retain more students to support Saskatchewan’s growing economy; all things that we are already beginning to witness.”
The college is working on a phased plan to initiate the new brand. The new website and social media channels will launch later this summer, and branded materials and signage will be updated over the coming months. Suncrest College will also boast a new tagline, “Bright minds. Bright futures.” The tagline speaks to where the college is heading and what it wants to achieve. The new brand will set the stage for Suncrest College’s new future, and a renewed commitment to its learners, communities, and partners throughout the expanded region.
“Suncrest College brings together the dedicated teams of two colleges who are committed to improving programming and expanding opportunities for learners,” Advanced Education Minister Gordon S. Wyant said. “Our government is honoured to work with such innovative leaders who continue to strive for educational excellence and have a shared vision for strengthening post-secondary education in Saskatchewan.”
Suncrest College will continue to offer Adult Education, Industry and Corporate Training, as well as post-secondary education for skilled trades, health, business, agriculture, emergency services, and a variety of university classes and full degrees.
Also effective July 1st, Alison Dubreuil becomes the permanent President & CEO for Suncrest College. Dubreuil was the interim President & CEO for Cumberland and Parkland College for the past year. Dubreuil shared, “being the first President & CEO of Suncrest College is a huge honour. I am excited about our future and ready to keep moving ahead with the great work our team has been doing these last 12 months.”
