Big second half defensive effort by Yorkton Raider Gridders

YORKTON - The Yorkton Raider Gridders won on their home field Saturday, but it was not an easy win.

Yorkton had 117 yards rushing in the first half including 92 on the ground by Tyson Korol, and 64 yards through the air, against visiting Moose Jaw Peacock.

The Raider Gridders scored 14 in the opening half based on two converted touchdowns.

In the second half the team had 99 yards on the ground with Korol rushing for 103. The Raider Gridders also passed for 30 yards.

Yorkton again scored two converted TDs in the second half plus two points via a safety, for 30 points.

Peacock had a big first half rolling up 27 points after having 107 ground yards and 196 through the air.

In the second half the Peacock run game was held to only three yards, and managing only 44 through the air, while being held scoreless, leaving Yorkton with a 30-27 win.
