YORKTON – BGC Yorkton's popular Halloween Costume Shop and Swap is back for another year this spooky season.

"Our Halloween Costume Shop and Swap, which started in 2016, has ran every year except for a couple of pandemic years. We're back for another year at 222 Smith Street East," said Erin Roussin, Director of Operation with BGC Yorkton, in an interview with Â鶹´«Ã½AV.ca

Roussin said the shop has handed out an abundance of costumes in a short amount of time.

"We've only been open for two days and we've handed out 109 costumes already. That's a very good turnout," Roussin noted.

And with the turnout, the initiative is now in high need of donations.

"People don't always have a costume to swap. Sometimes they just come to shop, which of course is free for anybody in the community. Anybody who has costumes out there — infant, pet, children's, adults — we can use anything," said Roussin.

Donations can be received at the shop or at BGC Yorkton, located at 54C Smith Street West.

"We're just really grateful for every donation that comes in and we think it's a very important program. Not only because if somebody can't afford a Halloween costume they can still partake in the holiday — because costumes are very expensive — but it's just a great way to be green and reduce, re-use, recycle, so that costumes aren't ending up in the landfill when you don't want them anymore. We will put them to good use," said Roussin.
