It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our loving daughter, mother, sister, grandmother and aunt, Deidra Jane Zayshley on June 9, 2015 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre; she was 45 years of age. Deidra was born on May 23, 1970 in Winnipeg, MB. She is the second child of four born to Norman and Rose (nee Pshyk) Zayshley. Shortly after she was born, the family moved to Ebenezer, SK. Deidra attended Ebenezer Elementary School, the Composite Junior High School in Yorkton and the Yorkton Regional High School. On January 28, 1989 Deidra was united in matrimony to Paul Slaferek. Deidra and Paul were blessed with three children, Christopher, Caitlin and Taylor. They lived in Ebenezer and raised their children. In fall of 1999, Deidra began her education to become a Social Worker. She worked very hard to finish her degree, even if it meant that she had to relocate her family to Saskatoon and Prince Albert. In 2004, Deidra and her family moved back to Ebenezer and she began her career as a Social Worker with Child Protective Services. As difficult as it was for her, she took great pride in helping families. Aside from her career, Deidra loved being with her children as they were her top priority. In March of 2013, she welcomed her first grandchild, Paisley Jane. She found immense pleasure playing with her and reading books to her. Whenever Paisley would enter the room, Deidra's face would light up with joy. If Deidra wasn't at work or with her children, you could find her watching Sports Centre cheering on her beloved Maple Leafs, Blue Jays and Saskatchewan Roughriders. Deidra leaves to celebrate her life; her parents, Norman and Rose Zayshley; her son, Christopher; her daughters, Caitlin (Chance) and Taylor; her granddaughter, Paisley; her sisters, Karen and Jennifer (Kurtis); her brother, Darcy (Samantha); her niece, Brittany (Derek); her nephews, Ryan, Jaxon, Parker, Kashton, and Jett and by many extended family and countless friends. The family would like to express sincere gratitude to the doctors and nurses of the Pasqua Hospital and of the Yorkton Regional Health Centre. To all of Deidra's friends, we thank you for your gift of love, friendship and support. A Celebration of Life Service was held on Saturday June 13, 2015 from the Gallagher Centre in Yorkton with Jason E. Kopan serving as the Celebrant. Deidra's very good friend, Tammy Genaille and Deidra's sisters, Karen and Jennifer shared heartfelt fond memories of Deidra. The special musical selections were "Amazing Grace", "Just As I Am", and "Go Rest High On That Mountain". The interment followed in the Garden of St. Mark in the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Ltd. With Darcy Zayshley, Chance Bender, Kurtis Rogne, Owen Genaille, Ron Zayshley and Paul Slaferek serving as the Pall bearers.
