Josephine Woychesko passed away with her family by her side on December 25, 2013 at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg, MB at the age of 91 years. Josephine was born on April 6, 1922 to John and Katie (nee Halushka) Woychesko. Josephine was raised on the family farm in the Beaverdale District and received her education at one of the schools of the district. As a young woman Josephine left the farm and set out on her own to Toronto, ON where she worked for the Royal York Hotel. Her experience at the hotel made a lifelong impression. She was impressed by the lavishness and quality of the hotel as she regarded herself as a simple young lady from the prairies. Josephine enjoyed embroidery, baking, and was gifted with a green-thumb when it came to her houseplants. She was blessed with five children; Gloria, John, Patricia, Jimmy, and Jane. Josephine raised her five children as a single mother who had a special strength and stamina unmatched by most other people. Josephine was a private person who was not one to boast or bring special attention upon herself. She especially loved her six grandchildren; Sherry, Cheryl, Adam, Neil, Jimmy, and Lexi. Josephine leaves to celebrate her life all of her children and five of her grandchildren. She is predeceased by her grandson, Adam. Funeral services were held on December 30, 2013 from Kopan's Funeral Service with Mr. Jason E. Kopan serving as the Celebrant. The interment followed in the St. Elias Ukrainian Orthodox Parish Cemetery in the Sheho District with Harlan Kowalchuk, Jonathan Kowalchuk, Carl Kowalchuk, Jimmy Brown, Mike Taylor, and Jason Kopan serving as the Pallbearers.
