Joan Walsh passed away at the age of 83 years on May 12, 2014 in Kamsack. Prayers for Joan were held on Monday, May 19, 2014 from the St. Stephen's Roman Catholic Church in Kamsack. A Funeral Mass was held on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 also from St. Stephen's Roman Catholic Church. Interment followed at the Riverview Cemetery. Joan was born on August 27, 1930 in Winnipeg, MB to John and Constance Pfiefer. She was the second oldest of six siblings. She received her education partly in Manitoba and also in Yorkton, SK. Raymond Walsh married Joan Ada Pfiefer on July 25, 1957 at Yorkton. They settled in Kamsack where Ray worked for the gas division of SaskPower, which later became SaskEnergy. Joan and Raymond were parents of two children. Tim born in 1965 and Camille, born in 1968. Family was Joan's life and were most important to her, with her free times being spent with Raymond and her children. She accompanied her family on many vacations and trips, especially during the summer when they would travel in northern Saskatchewan and Manitoba, camping and fishing. For many years Joan enjoyed her cabin at Duck Mountain Lake with her husband. She also went with her family to Europe for three months. Joan and her family moved from Kamsack to Estevan in 1981 and then to Okatoks, AB in 1990. After a few years, Raymond and Joan returned to Kamsack to live out their retirement years. Joan was a perfect housewife and partner to Raymond. She was always willing to help someone, or to take part in the activities of her children or her family in general. She was very active in volunteering her time to various community organizations. Joan spent most of her time with her husband Raymond. Raymond retired after 40 years of service to SaskEnergy. Joan also retired with her husband, to spend her time at Duck Mountain Lake and also at her home in Kamsack. Joan was a very friendly, loving, vivacious woman, very active and supporting in her community. She selflessly took part in many community organizations as well as other activities of her family. Joan is survived by her loving son Tim; daughter Camille Heisler; 3 grandchildren, Tiegan Boom, Riley Heisler and Tasia Albright; 2 sisters-in-law, Ellen McKenzie and Rose Schindler; numerous nieces and nephews and a special niece Donna Allen of Calgary. She was predeceased by her husband Raymond, her sisters and brothers, Allen Pfiefer, Shirley Pfeifer, Madison Lange, and Barbara Eisenzimmer, her mother and father, Constance and John. She is survived by her youngest brother Philip Pfiefer of Estevan.
