Gerald Alan Veregin was born on July 14, 1941 in Canora, SK as the middle son of Jacob and Emily Veregin. Gerald grew up on the family farm with his two brothers Clarence and Donald and attended schools in Dernic and Buchanan. As a young man, Gerald worked in Lynn Lake, MB and in 1964 joined the International Minerals & Chemical Corporation (IMC) potash mine in Esterhazy, SK where he would spend over 37 years of dedicated service as a Journeyman Mechanic until his retirement in July 2001.
In 1964 Gerald married Nadia Kozlow. They first moved to Churchbridge, SK and later to Bredenbury, SK
where they purchased their family home and raised their three children Tim, Jacki, and Tanya. Gerald was dedicated to his family and was very generous towards his children. After ensuring they received an education and good start in life he continued to support them in many ways. In turn, Gerald was loved very much by his children and grandchildren. Throughout his life, Gerald found his greatest enjoyment in the outdoors, working on the farm, fishing, hunting, and watching wildlife. In retirement he found solitude in his home where he loved to read, garden, watch television and keep an eye on his neighbourhood. He was also very fond of relaxing at the trailer at the Lake of The Prairies and spending time with his dear friend, Judy. Gerald was a good man who was quiet by nature. He had a strong set of values and cared deeply for those closest to him. Visits from his children and grandchildren brought
him much happiness and created many memories for his family to treasure. He will be forever missed and loved. Gerald now rests in peace with his wife, Nadia who passed away in July 1999. Gerald is
survived by his mother, Emily; two brothers, Clarence and Donald; his three children, Tim (Elizabeth and her son, Liam White), Jacki Veregin (Barrie Bonsal) and Tanya (Josh) Wilson; and grandchildren, Liam
Veregin and Jesse and Tyler Wilson. Funeral Services were held on Friday, October 12, 2012 from the Chapel of Christie's Funeral Home in Yorkton, SK with Reverend Walter Farquharson officiating.
