It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of James David Thomas (Jim), beloved son of Peggy and David Thomas of Yorkton on July 29, 2014, in Yorkton, SK, at the age of 23. Jim was born in Brandon, MB on November 4, 1990. He lived in Hartney, MB until he was 2, when his family moved to Portage la Prairie, MB. In 2005, the family moved to Yorkton where he attended Yorkton Regional High School. Jim worked at various jobs around Yorkton and Regina. He recently completed a culinary program and was enjoying the start of a new career at Mr. Mike's restaurant. He was enrolled in upgrade courses needed to attend civil engineering at university. He participated in many sports including hockey, soccer, golf, fishing and dirt-biking. He loved playing guitar. He enjoyed a wide variety of music and had recently started playing on a worship team at Victory Church with his Dad. Jim is survived and greatly missed by his parents, David & Peggy; sister Jennifer Thomas (David Sandney) from Portage la Prairie, MB and their sons Owen and Aiden; his sister Donna (Leighton) Kathler from Airdrie, AB and their sons Nathan and Mitchell; brother Jason Thomas from Vancouver, BC and son Mathew and daughter Kennadi; grandmother Anita Thomas from Hartney, MB and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. His love of animals had him owning pets such as lizards, snakes, a turtle, fish and of course, his much loved cats Skittles and Maynard. Jim loved to laugh and enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, all of whom he was extremely loyal to. Jim was pre-deceased by his Grandfather and Grandmother Jim & Marie Mills, his Grandfather Ross Thomas, his Aunt Sarah (Kruger) Thomas and Uncle Eric Thomas. His parents feel blessed to have spent the last couple of months having him live with them, watching the development of his hopes and dreams and plans for his future. Most importantly, he was genuinely happy and excited about that future. We will remember him as he was these last couple of months. Happy and excited about the future. May God Bless You, Jim and keep you until we see you again. A visitation for family and friends was held on Sunday, August 3, 2014 at the Family Worship Centre in Yorkton. Funeral Services were held on Monday, August 4, 2014 from the Family Worship Centre in Yorkton with Pastor Mark Lautamus of the Yorkton Victory Church officiating. The scripture readings were Acts 16:31, Proverbs 3: 5-7 and Psalm 23. Special Music was 'My Chains Are Gone' and 'Cornerstone' played by Michele Konkel. Chris Thomas sang 'Hotel California'. Tributes and words of remembrance were given by Jim's brother and sisters, Donna, Jason and Jennifer. David Sandney, Leighton Kathler, Nathan Kathler, Duane Mills, Chris Thomas and Kyle Gaudet served as the casketbearers. Cremation and interment followed in the Hartney Cemetery. Memorials in memory of Jimmy may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation as gifts of remembrance. Condolences can be sent to the family at .
