Edna Ann Strocen passed away with peace and grace on July 28, 2014 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre at the age of 63. Edna was born on November 24, 1950 to John and Laura Danylko of Calder, SK. She was born in Yorkton and raised in Calder where she also attended school. In 1968, Edna was united in Holy Matrimony to James Strocen in Yorkton, SK at St. Andrews United Church. On February 20, 1970, the couple was blessed with one son, Barry James Strocen. In their first few years together as a married couple, Edna and James ran the Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant in Kamsack and Yorkton. After they decided to change careers, Edna worked at OK Economy where she is remembered as being a friend to both co-workers and customers. Edna sharpened her retail skills by taking various business administration courses, which served her well as she moved through her career. Edna worked in a managerial capacity at The Met and for a time at Wendy's restaurant until she retired in the spring of 2014. After Edna retired, she became ill with lung cancer and remained at home with James. Edna is pre-deceased by both her parents, John and Laura; her sister, Christie; and her brother-in-law, Danny. She is remembered lovingly by her caregiver and husband, James Strocen of Yorkton; her son, Barry and his fiancée Gina of Ituna; and her granddaughter, Morgan Tallman of Winnipeg. She is also survived by her siblings, Mary (Fred), Lorraine, Liz and Jim as well as by many caring friends and relatives. Funeral services were held on Friday, August 1, 2014 from St. Andrew's United Church with Reverend Jen Dresser officiating. The organist, Shani Apland led the congregation in the singing of the hymns, "Amazing Grace", "I Saw The Light", "In The Garden". The interment followed in the Garden of Devotion in the Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Joe Glute, Bill Glute, Kevin Schnurr, Dennis Shuparsky, Donald Shuparsky, and David Shuparsky serving as the pallbearers.
