Vernon Speidel. October 19, 1929 - January 1, 2015. The family of Vernon Speidel sadly announce his passing at Grace Hospital in Winnipeg, MB on Thursday, January 1. Vern was born in Hubbard, SK to Joseph and Elizabeth (Zamzow) Speidel on October 19, 1929. He was predeceased by his father, Joseph, his mother, Elizabeth, (step-father, Ben Chesney); sister, Delores Cross, brother-in-law, Bert Cross; sister, Lorraine Campbell, brother-in-law, Frances Campbell and brother-in-law, Norman Nelson. He is survived by his brother, Ivan Speidel (Joan) of Winnipeg, MB, sister Emma Nelson-Yanke (Ray) of High River, AB and sister Eleanor Haas (Roy) of Saskatoon, SK and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral Services were held on Friday, January 9, 2015 from the Chapel of Christie's Funeral Home in Yorkton, SK with Reverend Walter Farquharson officiating. Soloist, Amanda Buhler, shared one selection, "You Raise Me Up". The recessional music was a taped music selection, "Panis Angelicus" as sung by Daniel O'Donnell. The Interment Service followed in the Yorkton City Cemetery with Wayne Speidel, Brian Kraushaar, Barry Ritchie, Gary Campbell, George Campbell and Ray Yanke serving as the casket bearers.
