Pearl Smith (née Schmor). 1922 - 2014. Born in Hepburn, SK in 1922 and passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at Luther Special Care Home in Saskatoon. Left to mourn Pearl's death is her son, Douglas his wife Laurel and their sons Andrew (Rebekah and daughter Hannah), Matthew (Melissa), Geoffrey, and David; sisters, Grace Gossen and Blanche Siemens; brothers, Earl (Ruth) and Bob (Mary); sister-in-law, Gladys Smith. Pearl had many special nieces and nephews. Pearl was predeceased by her husband, Cecil Hardie Smith; her parents, Nettie and Herman Schmor; brother, Marvin (Kay); sister, Jennifer; and brothers-in-law, Burt Gossen and Ruben Siemens. Pearl was introduced to classical music appreciation at a very young age by her musical father, and music was a lifelong joy. She received her elementary and High School education at Hepburn. In 1941 she attended Normal School in Saskatoon and furthered her career in education through university extension courses. Pearl taught at Hafford, Allan Hills, and in Yorkton where she taught for some 20 years. She was involved in choral work in schools and she sang with the Sweet Adelines for many years. In 1946 Pearl married Cecil Hardie Smith in Saskatoon. In 1954 they moved to Yorkton where they resided for 40 years. Due to health concerns they returned to Saskatoon. A Memorial Service was held on Monday, April 14, 2014 at 10:30 a.m., officiated by Pastor Heather Anderson at Park Funeral Chapel (311 Third Avenue North, Saskatoon).
