Hazel Lucy Slack - October 29, 1929 - May 26, 2013 Hazel passed away peacefully at the Yorkton Regional Hospital, Yorkton, SK on Sunday, May 26, 2013 at the age of 83. Hazel was born in Alameda, SK on October 29, 1929 the seventh of fifteen children born to Roland and Sarah Leadley. She grew up and attended school there and remained there until 2003, when she moved to Oxbow and then on to Yorkton with Karen and her family in 2006. Hazel married Norman Slack on September 29, 1949. Together they took over the family business of Slack's Red & White Store in Alameda and raised their family of four children there until Norman's unexpected death in January 1978. Hazel was predeceased by her parents: Roland and Sarah Leadley; her husband: Norman Slack; her brothers: Walter, Albert and Fred; her sisters: Eva, Rhoda, Marina, Betty, Georgina and Dorothy; brothers-in-law, Norman Forsyth, Rudy Prockner and her in-laws, Charles and Beatrice Slack, brothers-in-law, Edwin Slack and Howard "Bud" and (Ruby) Slack, as well as sister-in-law, Mary Slack. Survived by her four children, Howard (Mavis) Slack of White City, SK, Bonna-Faye (Jim) Forsyth of Pitt Meadows, BC, Rick (Rhonda) Slack of Jakarta, Indonesia and Karen (Mark) Hansen of Yorkton, SK, along with their families, Hazel's Grandchildren - Julie (Terry) Alberts, David (Shelsea Willett) Slack, Douglas Slack, James (Pamela) Forsyth, Tara (Brad Anderson) Forsyth, Erin (Kevin) Smith, Tyler Slack, Kaitlyn (Nicholas Fornwald) Hansen, Alayna (Colton Malinowski) Hansen, Christian Hansen, Jr., together with their children, Hazel's Great Grandchildren, Autumn and Hannah Alberts, Cameron Smith, Kayn Cote and two new angels expected shortly. She is also been survived by her siblings and their families, Lena King of Orillia, ON, Eric Leadley of Vancouver, BC, Rose Leadley of New Westminster, BC, Stan (Lori) Leadley of Regina, SK, Olive Prockner of Regina, SK, and Joyce (Bob) Peet of Kelowna, BC as well as many friends and acquaintances she made over the years. In her younger years, Hazel was active in everything small town life had to offer, sitting on many committees and auxiliaries. Later in years, her love for reading and gardening carried her through. Late in life Hazel became an internet wizard and was well known for her surfing abilities - often sharing her findings on the internet with staff at the Nursing Home. She loved social networks that allowed her to stay connected with her family all over the world! A Tea and Life Celebration was held at the Alameda Legion Hall in Alameda, SK on Monday, June 3, 2013.
