On Sunday, March 24, 2013, Ellen Shaver (nee McVey) passed away at the age of 82, at the University Hospital, in Edmonton, AB. Ellen was born in the Orcadia district and attended Raymond and Orkney schools. Before her marriage, she worked at "The San" in Fort Qu' Appel, Yorkton Stationery and Evergreen Motors in Yorkton. Sometime after her marriage to Jack Shaver from the SK Department of Natural Resources, she left with him to live in Regina, spending many summers with her family at the "Shaver's Shack" at the lake in Fort Qu' Appel. The opportunity arose for Jack to work for the Canadian Wildlife Service in Edmonton, and Ellen's many talents shone. As a florist her beautiful creations blossomed; as an avid gardener she delighted others with a home and yard rich in colour; she also possessed a flair for food preparations and presentation. Ellen worked as a volunteer for the Heart & Stroke Foundation, the Cancer Foundation and her other contributions included the Hope Mission. Most of all, her warm personality and hospitality extended, were a welcome to all who knew her. Ellen will be dearly missed by her children, Connie Pon (Gary), Cathy Letourneau (Bob), and Laurel Daniels (Rob), grandchildren, Michael and Leah Letourneau, and Carley, Blake and Jessi Daniels, as well as her sister, Jean McKen.
