Mrs. Hazel Beatrice Sharp (nee Anderson) was born January 13, 1921 on the family
farm in the Beaverdale District of Saskatchewan. She passed away peacefully at the Yorkton & District Nursing Home on September 19, 2012. Hazel was predeceased by
her husband, James (Jim) Sharp in 2007; her parents, Wallace (Wally) and Alice Anderson; her sister, Joyce (Joy) Evans and brother Samuel (Sam) Anderson. She is
survived by her daughter, Marguerite and husband, Richard Arnold of Calgary, AB; son, Gerald and wife, Julie of Sherwood Park, AB; and son, James (Jimmy) and wife, Brenda of Springside, SK. She also leaves to mourn her sister, Betty and husband Godfrey
(Smitty) Schmidt of Yorkton, SK; sister-in-law, Emma (Blondie) Anderson of Theodore, SK; sister-in-law, Mabel Sharp of Springside, SK; as well as seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and twenty two nieces & nephews. Hazel spent her early years on the family farm and attended Beaver School. She took her Grade XII in Springside and after graduation worked for the Canada Employment Commission in Yorkton. In 1943 Hazel married James Sharp who farmed in the Stoney Coulee District. There they lived and raised their three children. Hazel helped out with the many farm chores, as well as being a home maker and gardener. She especially enjoyed her flower gardens. Jim and Hazel moved into Springside in 1982 where she became an active volunteer that was
involved in several charitable organizations and became a lifetime member of the Lioness Club. She was also an Avon representative who enjoyed the social aspect of meeting with the people more than actually selling the product. Hazel and Jim
moved to The Fairview Arms in Yorkton in 2003. She then moved to the Nursing Home Facility in 2010. Hazel will be remembered for her sense of devotion to family and community. She will be sadly missed by all those who had the honour of knowing her. Funeral Services were held on Tuesday, September 25, 2012 from the Chapel of Christie's Funeral Home in Yorkton, Saskatchewan with Kathy Novak serving as the
Funeral Celebrant. Close family friend, Lynne Barber, shared words of tribute, memory and eulogy. The organist, Carla Laycock, led the congregation in the singing of the hymns, "Just A Closer Walk With Thee" and "How Great Thou Art". The Processional Music was "Hallelujah" and the recessional was a taped music selection of "Softly and Tenderly" as sung by Alan Jackson. The interment followed in the Springside Town Cemetery with Mark Gillespie, Jason Gillespie, Lisa Richards, Carrie Seeley Andrya Friesen, Marla Bilokreli and Stephen Sharp serving as the casket bearers.
