Laura J. Scheller

Laura J. Scheller ended her long battle with cancer on March 7, 2016, just months before she would hold her 84th birthday. Laura was born on May 30, 1932 and married Herbert Scheller in Preeceville, SK on April 19, 1948. They were blessed with seven children. Laura lived life much as a petal on a rose. She fed off of the love for her children and drank from the joys of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She basked in the warmth of her numerous family, siblings and friends. Her adoration for Elvis kept a song on her lips, a wiggle on her hips and trip to the famed Graceland. When her family had grown, Laura extended her need to care for others by working as a special care aid at the Anderson Lodge in Yorkton for many years. When she reached the age of retirement, Laura followed her lifelong dream. Sewing and creating a multitude of creations from cloth. Many treasures of quilts, coats, gowns and dresses adorn the beds, walls and closets of those who had the pleasure of knowing her grand stitchery. Much of her works shall be treasures, kept and cherished for years yet to come. Laura enjoyed travelling to new and distant places and always had her Buick tuned and ready for the next excursion to come her way. She also thrived in her flower beds and her garden brought her joy as did her desire to can, freeze and preserve everything possible. She also enjoyed her friends during card games, dominos, puzzles and Rummy Cube. Laura was predeceased by her parents and oldest son, Wade Scheller as well as her sister, Freda Tilbert, brother, Robert Tilbert, sister, Edith Boen and sister, Eileen MacMillan. She leaves to mourn her passing, her sister, Bernice Langdon and brother, Emerson Tilbert; her six children, 20 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Laura, Mom or Grandma and friend of many, you will be truly missed, lovingly remembered and forever with us in our hearts until we meet again. A Service to Celebrate Laura's Life will be held on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Christie's Funeral Home in Yorkton, SK. A private cremation committal will take place at a later date. Friends so wishing may make donations in Laura's name to the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency or to the charity of one's choice as tokens of remembrance. Friends so wishing may forward their condolences to the family by visiting www.christiesfuneralhome.com. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Christie's Funeral Home & Crematorium, Yorkton, Saskatchewan.
