We are deeply saddened by the passing of Eileen Margaret Scheller on Monday, May 18, 2015 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre, Yorkton, SK. She was 84 years of age. Eileen was born on March 26, 1931, in the Springside district of Saskatchewan, the youngest daughter of Joseph and Mary (nee Sanderson) Gruber. She was raised on the family farm and attended Good Luck School. After completing her education, she worked as a telephone operator in Springside for the Evans, then Yanke families. On May 1, 1949, Eileen married Samuel Scheller and the couple made their home in Springside. From 1958 to 1972, Eileen and Sam spent the summer months as the caretakers of Good Spirit Provincial Park. In December 1965 Eileen took over the Theodore Telephone Exchange, then three years later purchased the Windjack Farm southwest of Theodore. In 1968 the Theodore Telephone Exchange was automated, which resulted in the family relocating to Yorkton, enabling her to continue working for SaskTel. In 1983 Eileen retired and returned to the farm where she and Sam farmed until his passing in 1992. Eileen then moved into the town of Springside where she remained until 2014, when she became a resident of Aspen Bluff Villa in Yorkton. Eileen was a very active community supporter and participated in the 4-H Club, Legion Ladies Auxiliary and curling events. For 18 years she was the treasurer of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Family was very important to Eileen and prior to moving to Springside, she willingly took on the responsibility of raising her granddaughter, Kimberly from elementary school through to her graduation. Eileen was predeceased by her husband, Sam; her parents, Joseph and Martha; a brother, Frank and sister, Elsie, in infancy; sisters, Evelyn Schmidt and Marelyn Matkowski; brothers, Elmer, Wilfred and Joseph Gruber; son, Sheldon in infancy and son, Bradley in 2005. She leaves to cherish her memory, her son, Raymond and wife, Margaret and children, Pamela (Kyle) Fletcher, Brent and Jody; her daughter-in-law (Bradley's wife), Susan and children, Bryan (Cheryl), Sheldon (Dorothy) and Corey; her son, Murray and wife, Brenda and their children, Neil (Marcia) and Delee (Mark) McPherson; her son, Terry and his children, Kimberly, Brittney (Tyler) Oshaway and Candace; as well as sixteen great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and good friends. A Memorial Service was held on Friday, May 22, 2015 from St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Springside, SK with Pastor Daniel Moeller officiating. The organist, Jean Payne, led the congregation in the singing of the hymns, "Amazing Grace", "Softly and Tenderly" and "How Great Thou Art". A reception followed in the Springside Town Hall where Eileen's grandson, Neil Scheller shared words of tribute and eulogy. The private family cremation committal took place in the Springside Town Cemetery with Pastor Daniel Moeller officiating and Eileen's granddaughter, Kimberly Scheller serving as the urn bearer.
