Noreen Elizabeth Salamon passed away April 11, 2013 at the age of 54 years. Noreen was born November 7, 1958 in Yorkton Hospital. She was the third of six daughters born to Dean and Irene Maddaford of the Peachview District near Saltcoats, SK. Noreen started school at Peach view school, upon it's closure, continued her education in Yorkton at St. Magnums school, Simpson School, Columbia School, Composite Junior High and at Yorkton Regional High School. On May 3, 1975 she married David Salmon and raised their family of five on the farm along the Cut Arm Creek: daughter Althea in 1975; son, Aaron in 1977; son, Jason in 1979; son Patrick in 1986; and daughter, Kaylea in 1989. It was no easy task raising five children, looking after a home, tending a large garden and yard as well as spending countless hours supporting their children in their sports activities. Noreen used her talent for cooking and baking to entertain her family and friends at numerous gatherings and card parties (by the way she liked to win!). Her quick wit and sense of humour were often the highlight of these events! She was very creative and artistic, as shown in her painting, cake decorating, hand crafted gifts, and costume making. Noreen also used her artistic ability to bring out the beauty in others by selling Mary Kay cosmetics and working in her sisters salon. Her passion for trees and flowers was expressed in the landscaping of her yard and the tending of her large garden. Always a lover of nature, she became a gifted wildlife photographer, especially of the animals and birds attached to her yard. Noreen began working at Bredenbury Grocery Store after her three older children left home to pursue their careers and gained many new friends due to her sunny and caring nature. As Noreen dealt with her own health challenges, she befriended and supported others facing similar difficulties. Always one to change a difficult situation into a positive one, she and Dave turned their frequent medical trips into adventures, traveling in their recently purchased RV. Noreen passed away April 11, 2013. She was predeceased by her father, Dean Maddaford and father-in-law, Joe Salamon. She leaves to mourn her passing and celebrate her life: her loving husband, Dave; daughter, Alethea and children, Aiden and Ethan and their father Dan Scheuerpflug; son, Aaron (Nanette) and children, Eva, Lily and Noreen; son, Jason (Natasha) and children, Anais and Matias; son, Patrick (Kari Miller); and daughter Kaylea. Also her mother, Irene Maddaford; sisters: Karen (Garvin Wiley) and children, Sara and Robert; Gwen (Wilf Miller), children Jennifer and Brett and their father Don Wiley; Cathy (Rick Wilson) and children Cara, Mitch and Kris; Valerie (Dan Bogden), children, Brandy, Renell and Graeme and their father Merlin Toth; and Barbara. Also her mother-in-law, Evelyn Salamon; and Dave's siblings: Joan (Robert Elliott) and children Megan and Nathan; Charles (Anthea), children Megan and Nathan; Wendy (Dez Walden); Chris (Ray Thibault) and children Terri and Joel; and Vince (Lynne) and children Haylea and Erik. As well as numerous Extended family members and good friends. A celebrations of Noreen's life was held on Monday, April 15/13 at Saltcoats Community Hall with Rev. Walter Farguharson officiating, assisted by Pastor Kelly Henning. Music was provided by pianist, Sara Wiley, and Guitarists Brett Wiley, Dan Scheuerpflug, & Cathy Wilson. Cathy Wilson sang "The Arms of an Angel" and led in singing "Amazing Grace" & "Morning Has Broken". A private family committal of ashes will take place at a later date. Friends so wishing may donate in Noreen's name to Regina Cancer Patient Lodge, or Yellowhead Flyway Bird Trail Association as tokens of remembrance.
