Mr. Albert Rutch of Yorkton passed away peacefully Saturday October 27, 2012 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre in Yorkton, SK. He lived at his home in Yorkton until the time of his death. He was 92 years old. He was born in Frauenburg, Latvia April 24, 1920 to Adolf and Natalie (Hait) Rutch and came to Canada with his parents and older sister Violet at a very early age. His parents settled on a farm in the Hamton - Gorlitz District. After Albert finished school he farmed for awhile before moving to British Columbia where he owned and operated a strawberry farm, but when his father passed away in 1950 he returned to run the farm with his mother until the farm was sold a year later and they moved into Yorkton. He then became a baker at Martins Bakery and worked there for several years until he retired. He was also a very talented handyman and worked on many home repairs in the Yorkton area. He always had a big garden that he shared with his neighbors. His yard was also full of beautiful flowers, he loved gardening. Albert was predeceased by his parents Adolf and Natalie as well as sisters Elsa Macdonald and Linda Thompson, brother Norman Ruetch, nephew Robert Ruetch and brother in law Hugo Hertzke. He is survived by his sister Violet Hertzke of the Yorkton Nursing Home, sister-in-law May Rutch of Hamilton, ON, nephews Harvey Herzke Yorkton Nursing Home, Allan (Geri) Herzke Delta, BC, David (Irene) Ruetch Hamilton ON, Dan (Karen) Ruetch Medicine Hat AB, nieces Iona Jardine Surrey BC, Gail Sakal Swan River MB, Susan Ruetch Hamilton ON, Laurie Leek Hamilton ON, Shawn Martens Winnipeg MB, and his best friend and caregiver Audrey Syrota. The Funeral Service was held on Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at Chapel of Bailey's Funeral Home in Yorkton with Pastor Rick Flamont of Grace River Mission officiating. Everyone touched by Albert's life were considered honourary pallbearers. Vocal Selections, "Old Rugged Cross", "Amazing Grace" and "I Can Only Imagine" were included in the service. The interment followed in the Yorkton City Cemetery with funeral home staff serving as the casket bearers. Memorials in memory of Albert may be made to Destiny International Christian Assembly.
