Gina (nee Rubletz) Rohatynsky of Yorkton passed away on Sunday, November 23 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre at the age of sixty-six, surrounded by her family. Georgina "Gina" Rohatynsky was born on June 23, 1948 in Yorkton, to James and Elizabeth "Betty" (nee Gordon) Rubletz. In December of 1952, at the age of four, Gina started to travel. Her first trip was one of her biggest and most memorable. Gina, along with her mother and brother, Gordon, sailed on the CUNARD LINE from Halifax to Liverpool, England. They returned back to Canada in July 1953. While she was in England, she attend the Coronation Ceremonies of Queen Elizabeth. Throughout her school years she was very involved in the Yorkton Figure Skating Club and won several medals. As a certified figure skating instructor she taught figure skating in Yorkton and Foam Lake and judged for some of the local figure skating competitions. Gina held various positions in the workforce including a Car Hop at A&W, a waitress at the Temple Hotel in Grayson SK, the circulation department at the Yorkton Enterprise, Gifts of Gold, PK Bingo. The last place Gina worked at was Humpty's Family Restaurant. This is when her health deteriorated and she had to say "good-bye" to the work force. In Jim and Ward's younger years, a lot of her time was spent at either the scout hall helping out with BEAVERS, or a hockey rink cheering on the boys. She loved doing crafts such as sewing, needlepoint, crocheting, knitting, macrame and making mukluks, moccasins and mitts. Some of the most meaningful time for Gina was when her and the family were out at "the lake".  No matter what season it was, she could be found either at the beach, on the lake fishing, swinging a club at the golf course, or at a snowmobile shack. Her utmost enjoyable thing to do was socializing at a friend's cabin over a deck of cards and some cold beer(s) and several cigarettes. In Gina's later years she devoted every Saturday night to playing TV Bingo. One of Gina's proudest times was when she became a "GRANDMA" to Kassandra and Kyla & a "NANA" to Josh and Madie. She was very proud of all her grandchildren. She loved to hear from them and she welcomed them into her home at any time. Gina leaves to cherish her memory, two sons, Jim and Bonnie (grandchildren Josh and Madie), Ward and Darla (Smith) (grandchildren Kassandra and Kyla); a sister-in-law, Connie Rubletz of Regina, SK; uncle Robert Gordon of Glasgow, Scotland and several cousins and good friends. A celebration of Gina's life was held on Friday, November 28, 2014 from the Chapel of Bailey's Funeral Home in Yorkton with Crystal Bailey B.Th, Certified Celebrant officiating. The honourary urn bearer was granddaughter, Kassandra Smith. Interment followed in the Yorkton City Cemetery with grandchildren, Kyla, Madie and Josh Rohatynsky serving as the urn bearers.
