Evelyn Rohatensky of Yorkton passed away peacefully after a short illness at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre on Tuesday, January 8, 2013. She was 91 years of age. Evelyn was born in the Homefield district of Saskatchewan and attended Beaver Hills School north of Goodeve, SK. On April 30, 1943, she married Harry Rohatensky and for the most part resided and worked in the city of Yorkton, where they raised one daughter, Francis Hill. Evelyn was a wonderful mother, devoted wife, loving grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother, a caring auntie and loyal friend. Predeceased by her husband Harry; her parents, John and Anna (Borisko) Smuk; son in law James Hill; granddaughter Toni Davis; her six brothers: Andrew, Alex (Mary), Bill, John (Aileen), Bernie (Annette) and Harry; her seven sisters: Bessie (Jack) Kozak, Mary (Andrew) Prokopiw, Anne (Mike) Pillipow, Kathleen Smuk, Sally (Joe) Tarr, Nettie (William) Dumalski and Julia (Edward) Zapshalla. Left to mourn her passing is her daughter Francis Hill of Regina; granddaughters: Traci Davis of Yorkton, and Terri Pozniak (Rick) of Calgary, AB; great grandchildren: Joel Davis (Jen), Jordan (Amy) Davis, James Pasveer, Morgan Davis, Randi Davis, Kylie and Hayden Pozniak, Conner Lalonde and Angela Hill; great great grandchildren: Elam & Daxton Davis; as well as many nieces, nephews and special friends. Prayer services were held on Friday evening, January 11 and the Requiem Divine Liturgy was celebrated on Saturday, January 12, 2013, all from St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Yorkton. Rev. Father Ray Lukie C.Ss.R was the Celebrant. Cantors Ed Pindus and Colette Karapita, assisted by members of the Parish Choir, led in the singing of the responses. The crossbearer was Hayden Pozniak. The Epistle-reader was Kylie Pozniak. The interment took place in the Yorkton City Cemetery with Joel & Jordan Davis, James Pasveer, Orest Smuk, Gabriel Marshall and David Uhryn serving as the casketbearers.
