It is with extreme sadness to announce the sudden, yet peaceful, passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, son, brother and friend Darrell Richard Rieder. Darrell passed away peacefully in his home (Â鶹´«Ã½AVey, SK) at the age of 57 on October 8, 2014. Darrell was born in Yorkton, SK on November 20, 1956. In 1977, Darrell caught the eye of Joyce (nee Peel) of Foam Lake, SK and they were married in 1978. In 1979, they were blessed with the birth of their daughter Lisa. In 1981, they were blessed again with the birth of their second daughter Colleen. In 1978, he started work with the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool where he worked until his retirement until 2007. Darrell also farmed with his father until 2012. Darrell fully retired and sold the farm shortly after the passing of his father in 2012. Despite holding two full-time jobs for over 30 years, Darrell always made time to be involved with his daughters' activities and completing his wife's endless To Do lists. Darrell will forever be remembered for his farmer's love of the Weather Network, coffee row at the local coffee shop, wise cracks and shenanigans after Thursday night curling, Â鶹´«Ã½AVey and Buylea Lions Club functions and local Â鶹´«Ã½AVey Marlin hockey games. Darrell's recent hobbies alongside his wife included travel to several countries around the world, cottage life at Collingwood Lakeshore Estates near Strasbourg and snowbird life at their home in Poinciana, FLA. His grandson Levi loved to play and tease his Grandpa and Darrell loved to tease and spoil his grandson. A recent trip to "Mickey's House" with Grandpa will forever remain with his grandson. His jovial spirit and wisecracks to young and old will forever be missed. Darrell worked hard and played hard. His love for his family and friends will forever be imprinted in the memories of those left behind. Darrell was pre-deceased by his father, William Rieder (2012) and in-laws Dorothy (2000) and John (2009) Peel. He is survived by his loving wife, Joyce; daughter Lisa (Andy) Grudnizki; grandson Levi Grudnizki; daughter Colleen (Cam McGeogh); mother Olga Rieder; sister Linda (Brad) Ouart and Pamela (Dennis) and Tyler (Brit); sister Leslie (Dale) LeBlue, Dion (Skyler), Allanah (Kyle) and great-niece Brynn; sister-in-law Joan (Hans Arne) Hansen; Inga-Lisa (Peter) and great-niece Alina; and Liv-Anita as well as aunts, uncles, cousins and numerous friends. Flowers declined with donations preferred to Heart & Stroke Foundation. Funeral arrangements through Hansen's Funeral Home of Strasbourg, SK. Funeral and internment to take place at Â鶹´«Ã½AVey Emmanuel Lutheran Church on Monday, October 13 at 2:00PM.
