Mavis Helen Prystai (April 10, 1942 - May 23 2013) Mavis Helen Prystai died peacefully at the Pasqua Hospital in Regina, SK, surrounded by family. Mavis was born on April 10, 1942 to Bert and Helen Evans in St. Boniface, MB. She had one younger brother, David Evans. The family moved several times in Mavis' early years until settling in Yorkton, SK. Mavis continued her education there, finishing high school and then graduating from nursing in 1963. In 1964, Mavis married Ken Tulloch. They started a family and had two boys, Scott and Evan. Mavis continued her nursing career at the Yorkton Union Hospital on the maternity ward and then worked many years for Dr. Eldeiry and later, Dr. John Crossley. She finished her career working at the Yorkton Nursing Home, retiring after 38 years in nursing in 2001. Ken passed in 1990 and in 1994 Mavis married Metro Prystai. Their retirement years were spent travelling and enjoying their grandchildren. Music and singing were an important part of Mavis's life from early on. She often sang with her Dad and her Mom accompanied them on piano. Mavis was a valued member of many church and community choirs through the years. She sang at countless events including "O Canada" at many curling and hockey games at the Agriplex. Mavis was very involved with her church and was part of the life at Westview United. Mavis is survived by her husband, Metro Prystai; sons, Scott (Kathleen) and Evan Tulloch; grandchildren, Stephen, Colin and Maggie Tulloch and her brother, David (Judy), Mike and Chris Evans. She also leaves to mourn, Metro's family, David and Kathy Prystai, Karen and Mark and Jordan Levesque, James and Lana, Emma, Jacob, and Avery Prystai, Michael (Stephanie) Prystai. Mavis was predeceased by her first husband, Ken Tulloch; her parents, Helen and Bert Evans and her granddaughter, Alexandra Tulloch. Funeral Services were held on Thursday, May 30, 2013 from Westview United Church in Yorkton, SK with Reverend Molly Kitchen officiating. Family friend, Karen Fandrey shared a reading in memory of Mavis. The organist, Laurene Jemieff and pianist, Shani Apland, led members of the combined choirs of Westview United Church, St. Andrew's United Church and the Yorkton Community Concert Choir in the singing of the hymns, "I See a New Heaven", "In The Bulb There is a Flower" and "Praise the Lord with Sounds of Trumpets" (as a recessional). The Choir Anthem was "Here I Am Lord". The Cremation Committal followed in the Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Stephen Tulloch, Colin Tulloch and Maggie Tulloch serving as the urn bearers. Donations in Mavis' memory may be made to the Hospitals of Regina Foundation (www.hrf.sk.ca) to be used on Ward 3B (oncology) at the Pasqua Hospital, Regina, SK.
