Victor Peter Pozium passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, at the Yorkton & District Nursing Home on September 20, 2013 at the age of 85. Victor was born on August 10, 1928 on the family farm in the Mikado district to Sam and Nellie (Tomashewski) Pozium. As a young man, Victor attended Zukunft School while helping his parents on the farm. Victor began working in bush camps; he then purchased his own semi-truck and began hauling gravel. He continued farming the family homestead while trucking for many years. He was also a 'jack of all trades' and could fix anything. He bought and sold many different items. He sold his truck and continued to farm, purchasing more land. He then built a brand new home in Canora for himself and his parents. He continued farming and worked and played equally as hard. He found time to play his guitar and accordion which he self-taught. He often found himself playing and hosting granary dances on the family farm as well as many family Shishliki barbecues. He had a large garden and often delivered his bounty to many neighbors and friends. Victor was a kind, caring, gentle man, but would speak his mind and let you know exactly what he was thinking - whether you liked it or not. He will be sadly and dearly missed by all. Victor was predeceased by his parents; his brother Alex Pozium; his sisters: Anne Woznow, Helen Boyda, Florence Stankewich and Elsie Lapshinoff; and his brother-in-law Charlie Reti. He is survived by his sisters: Violet (Walter) Stankewich of Canora, SK and Marie Reti of Regina, SK; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The Prayer Service was held on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Service was held on Thursday, September 26, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. both from the Chapel of Leson's Funeral Home with Rev. Fr. Michael Faryna officiating. Interment followed in Canora Cemetery. Those wishing to make expressions of sympathy may make donations to The Skinner Unit at the Yorkton & District Nursing Home in Yorkton. Those unable to attend are invited to sign an on-line guest book at www.lesonsfuneralhome.ca. Arrangements have been entrusted to LESON'S FUNERAL HOME, Canora (306) 563-5671.
